Why we built Shroommatez
It started at a festival.
Our founder arrived solo, surrounded by 3,000 people who all seemed to share the same curiosity — but with no way to find them. No map of events happening on the grounds. No easy way to connect with others who shared the same intentions and values. Just a crowded field and a lot of trial and error.
By the end of the weekend, they'd made a dozen incredible new friends. But it had taken persistence, luck, and sheer stubbornness. It shouldn't require any of those things.
The cannabis and psychedelic community is vibrant, intentional, and growing. It has festivals, retreats, integration circles, educational workshops, and underground meetups happening in virtually every major city. But it's scattered — across private Facebook groups, word-of-mouth whisper networks, and buried Eventbrite listings that are hard to find unless you already know what to search for.
Shroommatez is the infrastructure this community deserves.
What we're building
At its core, Shroommatez is an event discovery app — but one built specifically for this community, with the values of this community built in from the ground up.
Here's what that means in practice:
- An interactive event map that shows you what's happening near you, filterable by event type, vibe, and distance
- Explorer profiles so you can share who you are, what you're into, and how you like to explore
- Pre-event connection — see who's attending before you show up, and coordinate with new friends ahead of time
- Harm reduction resources baked into the experience, not tacked on as an afterthought
- A community blog for education, event recaps, and real conversations about conscious exploration
Our values
We want to be clear about what Shroommatez stands for:
Safety is non-negotiable. Every feature is built with harm reduction in mind. We're not here to glorify recklessness — we're here to make exploration safer, more intentional, and more connected.
We don't facilitate anything illegal. Shroommatez helps you find events and connect with people. We don't facilitate the purchase, sale, or distribution of any substances. We operate with full compliance with applicable laws and leave legal questions to each user's own jurisdiction.
Community over commerce. The best communities are built on trust and mutual care, not engagement metrics. We're building with that principle as our north star.
